Year on year comparison

  • the proportion of employees aged 40 to 59 has remained high over the years, reflecting an older workforce
  • the proportion of employees aged 16 to 29 has decreased in recent years
  • the 30 to 39 age band has maintained a steady representation
  • those aged 60+ has increased, reflecting an aging workforce

Differences between the local community and our workforce

  • we an older workforce when compared with the Southend working age population
  • over half of our employees are aged 40-59 (54.8%), whereas this age group makes up just 27% of the local working age population
  • those aged 16-29 comprise only 10% of employees, compared with 15.5% of the local working age population
