Cemetery regulations

General rules of the cemetery

The council can decide and may change the cemetery opening times, but it does not do this often. The Cemetery will be open every day of the year. The opening times are below:

  • January and February 8 am to 4:30pm
  • March 8am to 6pm
  • Apil and May 8am to7pm
  • June, July, and August 8am to 8pm
  • September 8am to 7pm
  • October 8 am to 6pm
  • November and December 8am to 4:30pm

No person should enter the cemetery when it is closed.

  • all people at the cemetery should do what is asked by the cemetery manager
  • everyone at the cemetery should behave in a quiet and sensible way

No one should:

  • disturb others on purpose
  • be offensive in their behaviour and actions
  • interfere with a burial on purpose
  • interfere with any type of grave, burial space, or memorial, flowers or plants
  • play any games or sports
  • have a naked flame or set light to items

Visitors should not stop the councils workers. Visitors should not ask the council workers to carry our personal work. Visitors can stop cemetery workers if there is something urgent, or in an emergency. Visitors should not give gifts or money to the cemetery workers. Visitors can ask questions or make complaints at cemetery office. The office is near the entrance gates on Sutton Road. You can call the office on 01702 215015. Dogs on a lead are allowed in the cemetery but no other animals. Assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery buildings.

Instruments should not be played in the cemetery, unless you are told it is allowed by the cemetery manager or the office at the cemetery.

Children under 12 years old are not allowed in the Cemetery unless they are with a responsible adult.

No one should sell or offer to sell any item in the cemetery.

Any car, van, or motorbike should use the roads and not drive or park on the grass areas. Everyone should follow the 10 miles per hour speed limit in the cemetery. Cars, Vans, or Motorbikes are not allowed in Leigh or North Road Cemeteries, unless the manager or give says it is ok.

Everyone should use the roads to move in the cemetery unless you are moving to a grave you wish to visit.

Everyone should use the bins in the cemetery for any rubbish.

Visitors should not make videos or take photos unless the manager or the office say it is ok.

No employee can ask for money or gifts.

All types of burials will follow the correct law and guides.
