What is the commitment?
You will need to commit to attend governing body or academy meetings. This is the minimum requirement.
They generally occur each half term, and there is around five to six per school year. However these meetings vary from school to school.
Meetings may be:
- face to face
- virtual
- hybrid
You may be expected to carry out additional duties such as:
- attending committee meetings
- visiting the school
- monitoring visits (especially for your area of responsibility)
- supporting Headteacher recruitment as part of a nominated panel
- meeting with the Ofsted inspection team
- supporting community events such as the summer fayre or assemblies
