Resident carer permit
Residents whose addresses fall within a parking permit scheme area may be eligible to apply for resident carer permit if they require home visits from their care provider.
With this permit, your carers will be allowed to park in a permit scheme area while visiting you.
If unsure, you can check if your address is within a parking scheme area.
Supporting documents required
Applicants are required to provide supporting documents for both:
- proof of address (dated within 3 months of the application) and
- proof that a resident carer permit is required
Acceptable proof of address documents include:
- full driver's licence
- tenancy agreement (if applicable)
- bank statements (redacted)
- solicitor's letter (new residents only)
- utility bills, such as electricity, gas, or water (Council Tax and mobile phone bills are not accepted)
- benefit letters - Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
Proof of the need for a carer permit needs to be an official letter from your doctor or care provider. The letter must:
- confirm your name and address and
- state that the applicant must receive either 24-hour care or continuous/daily care at stated address due to health condition (the type of condition or disability need not be disclosed)

Permit application process
Please note that applications for any permit may take up to 15 working days to process. It is the responsibility of the applicant to allow enough time for processing of the application.

Data protection
The Council may share information provided in your parking permit application with other organisations who are involved in the:
- administration of benefits
- prevention and detection of fraud
