Apply for council housing

What we expect from you

  1. To provide all of the documents and information we need as part of your application or tenancy sign-up in a timely manner.
  2. To provide honest and accurate information about your circumstances.

When you submit your application form, you need to send the following documents to CBL@southend.gov.uk:

  1. Proof of identity: birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  2. Proof of where you live: tenancy agreement or letter from head of household. If you are currently renting, you must provide an up to date rent payment statement from your landlord.
  3. Proof of income: i.e. Bank statements, benefits letters.
  4. Any evidence in support of your housing need. For example, if you want to move because you have a medical/welfare condition that is being impacted by your current living arrangements (where your need cannot be resolved in your existing home i.e. through aids/adaptations). We would ask for proof of medical condition and medication e.g. prescription, letter from GP/consultant.

We might ask for additional information and supporting evidence regarding your eligibility and housing needs, before confirming if you have been accepted onto the Housing Register.

You will be advised as to what documentation you need to provide.
