Parking suspension - terms and conditions
These are the terms and conditions for parking suspension. We reserve the right to revise, withdraw or update any of the terms as and when required.
General terms and conditions
- the Council provide a parking suspension service in accordance with statutory powers and duties, taking reasonable care when processing applications
- applications for a parking suspension must be accompanied with the appropriate supporting document, such as bill of work, which will be assessed individually
- the Council will assess all applications and consider the local needs and conditions, which vary significantly, before authorisation of applications
- the Council will not normally authorise the suspension of disabled persons' bays, unless there is an exceptional circumstance
- applicants must make full payment of the parking suspension charges (and administration fees) at the time of application, at least 10 working days in advance of the date on which the suspension is due to start. Failure to comply with this time request may result in the suspension not being processed or agreed
- a parking place for which a parking suspension has been authorised for must only be used for the purpose stipulated in the application that was approved
- the Council will erect temporary suspension signs near the suspended parking place in advance of the date of the suspension. This is to make motorists aware of the suspension and to advise that it is not permitted to be used
- the Council cannot guarantee that a specific parking space or place will be available at the start of the suspension period or on subsequent dates. As such, the Council accepts no liability for any financial loss (whether direct or consequential) that may arise
- if an extension of the suspension period is required, the Council must be notified at least 3 working days prior to the end of the approved suspension period. An email is to be sent to the parking suspension team for approval and appropriate addition charges must be paid
- the Council cannot amend any application whereby the required suspension notices have already been established and displayed
- cancellation or amendments to paid-for suspensions are non-refundable
- a parking suspension may be revoked by the Council at any time; for violation of the stipulated terms, misuse of the parking space (or place) or any other reason entirely at the Council's discretion. Upon revocation, such parking suspension shall thereupon immediately cease to be valid and enforcement actions may be taken
