Annual Report
- This is the shortened name for this document, the Annual Parking Report
CCTV
- This stands for Closed-Circuit Television
Contravention
- This refers to a breach of parking regulations. This used to be referred to as an ‘offence’ when regulations were enforced by the police
CPZ
- This stands for Controlled Parking Zone. It is an area with parking controls to manage the limited kerbside. It is achieved through use of parking permits during certain hours
Enforcement
- In this document ‘enforcement’ activity by the council covers that of parking controls and decriminalised traffic contraventions (enforcement of bus lanes and of moving traffic offences)
NTO
- This stands for Notice to owner
Nuisance vehicles
- This a term used for persistent evaders. For example:
- vehicles with three or more penalty charge notices that are neither under appeal nor appealable)
- foreign registered vehicles
- untaxed vehicles
- abandoned vehicles
PCN
- This stands for Penalty Charge Notice
TMA
- This stands for Traffic Management Act 2004
TPT
- This stands for Traffic Penalty Tribunal. They are a group made up of individually appointed independent adjudicators who consider appeals against PCNs issued by councils in England and Wales (outside London) for parking contraventions
