Housing and support options for young people aged 16 or 17 years old

What to expect

First stage

Whatever service you first approach at the council, you will be referred to Children's Social Care: Children's Single Point of Contact (C-SPOC). You will then be allocated a social worker.

A meeting will take place between:

  • Social Services
  • Local Authority Housing
  • yourself
  • an advocate (where necessary)
  • a family member or adult friend (if requested)

Second stage

Your social worker and housing officer will need to talk to your family, or who you have been living with to find out the reasons why you have become:

  • homeless
  • at risk of homelessness

They will then talk through what can be done to help you return home, if safe to do so.

It is important to ask questions if you do not understand what is being said, this is about you!
