Becoming a candidate for a UK Parliamentary General election

Nomination papers for the UK Parliamentary General election taking place on Thursday 4th July are now available from The Electoral Commission website and our website.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers is 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.

Please take care when completing your nomination paper that you are using the correct version of the register of electors. The version in force for nominations is the register published on 3rd June 2024. Please email us for more information.

For more information on the nomination process, which includes the submission of a deposit of £500, please visit The Electoral Commission's website.

Payment of the £500 deposit may be made by the electronic transfer of funds, provided that the funds are cleared by 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024. Payment may also be made by means of legal tender (cash). Please email us for more details.

It is important that all candidates, agents and campaigners are aware and adhere to the Code of Conduct for Campaigners at UK Parliamentary general elections in Great Britain, local elections in England and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections.

Candidates and agents can view the new consituency boundaries via the Ordnance Survey election maps tool. Select the 'boundary' option and under 'popular boundaries' check the 'Westminster constituencies' box. You can then zoom into the area you are looking for.

Please note that the nomination and home address form may only be delivered by:

  • the candidate
  • the proposer or seconder as shown on the nomination form
  • the candidate's election agent, provided you have received notification of their appointment

The notice of appointment of the election agent may be delivered at the same time as the nomination and home address form.

There are no restrictions on who can deliver the consent to nomination, certificate of authorisation and emblem request forms.
