Education, training and employment - leaving care

The Virtual School

The Virtual School is an extra resource. Its purpose is to support and challenge all those involved in the education of children we care for.

It supports various initiatives to support the educational achievement of children in care. This occurs through involvement and promotion at both a local and national level.

The Virtual School Team is a small multi-disciplinary team. It aims to:

  • raise the level of education
  • increase aspirations
  • improve attendance

The Virtual School works in close collaboration with:

  • colleagues across the authority
  • the third sector through various partnerships

Educational Advisors:

  • track the academic progress of our young people
  • support and monitor those that work with children and young people in care, such as:
    • schools
    • colleges and wider educational provisions
    • Social Workers
    • Foster Carers

The Virtual School works to help young people realise and achieve their full potential within education and beyond.

To help you continue learning outside of the classroom, The Virtual School offer a range of:

  • educational events
  • training opportunities
  • academic apps
