Form information

To operate as a skip hire company within Southend-on-Sea you must be registered with the Council and be granted a Skip Company Operators Licence.

And before each skip is placed on any public road each Skip Operator must apply and be granted a Skip Licence (sometimes known as a permit). As an operator you will need to make a skip licence application per skip

A Skip Company Operators licence is valid for 1 year. You must register/apply with our scheme each year.

When your Skip Company Operators Licence has been approved your company will be automatically registered. You will then be able to apply online for Skip Licences.

As part of your registration, you must provide:

  • Proof of your public liability insurance – with cover of £10,000,000 or more
  • A copy of a waste transfer note
  • A waste carrier's licence certificate
  • A goods vehicle operator’s licence

You will need to upload copies of these when completing this application.
