It is a duty under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 for Southend-on-Sea City Council and partners to prepare Joint Strategic Needs Assessments. They have equal and joint responsibility to prepare JSNAs through local Health and Wellbeing Boards.
JSNAs describe the characteristics of a place and its residents. It offers information to help plan and make decisions.
Since 2019, the style of the Southend JSNA and way it's delivered, has undergone a change. It has moved from being large reports to a more modern format. The modern JSNA format allows users to explore the information for themselves.
The 'Southend JSNA' is not a single document. It is a collection of reports and tools that describe different aspects that affect our residents' lives. Each report has a lifespan of 3 years, then Southend City Council decide to either renew or archive.
