Affected voters must reapply to continue voting by post.

The council is contacting all postal voters affected and encouraging them to renew their application as soon as possible.

The quickest and easiest way to do this is by applying online at: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.

Colin Ansell, Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer at Southend-on-Sea City Council, said: "The way you apply for a postal vote has changed, and postal voters must now renew their application every three years.

"If you wish to continue voting by post, I urge you to reapply as soon as possible to ensure you can have your say in future elections.

"Postal voting is a convenient and secure way to take part in democracy, particularly for those who may find it difficult to get to a polling station on the day. Don't leave it too late, renew now and make sure your voice is heard."
