Renowned King's College London Choir returns to Southend-on-Sea

The Council invites you to experience the internationally renowned Choir of King's College London as part of the Southend concert series.

A group of young adults , all dressed in black academic robes, pose for a formal group photo inside an ornate chapel. The background features intricate golden decorations, religious artwork, and stained glass windows.

Following their successful debut in the city last year, the choir returns on Friday 14 March 2025 for another unforgettable performance. As one of England's top university choirs, the ensemble of around thirty singers provides music for Chapel services, including Eucharist and Evensong, with performances often broadcast on BBC Radio. They have also graced prestigious venues such as Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral.

The choir has toured extensively, captivating audiences in Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Nigeria, and the USA. Their upcoming tour includes stops across the UK, Europe, and the US.

Tickets are on sale now for this event, featuring a stunning programme that includes Lamentations of Jeremiah by Thomas Tallis, Miserere Mei by Allegri, works by William Byrd, and other masterpieces. Under the direction of the revered conductor Dr Joseph Fort, the Choir of King's College London promises an evening of exquisite music.

Cllr Matt Dent, cabinet member for culture, tourism, and business, said "It is exciting to welcome the return of the Choir of King's College London to the Council Concert Series. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors to experience outstanding choir singing in the heart of Southend.
