A new physical booklet has been produced by Southend-on-Sea City Council to help residents to cope with the effects of the cost-of-living crisis.
The guide accompanies the recently published microsite on One Southend and features similar information, support and resources for those who may struggle to access the information online. It will feature a mixture of local and national support, providing contact details of organisations who can help to provide toiletries, food and spaces to keep warm throughout the day if needed. The guide also provides housing and business support, including how to manage rising energy costs.
The booklet will be delivered directly to vulnerable residents such as those who are in receipt of benefits, but will also be available from the Civic Centre and public libraries. Charities will also be handing out the booklets to their beneficiaries.
A limited number of booklets will be available for free while stocks last. You can also request a digital copy of the booklet by emailing media@southend.gov.uk.
Cllr Ian Gilbert, cabinet member for economic recovery, regeneration and housing, said: “I am very pleased with how the council has put this hub of resources together for residents. I am sure that along with the One Southend site, this booklet will be an essential help to many as we navigate the cost-of-living crisis. I urge everyone to spread the word about these resources, as you may never know who would benefit from the various forms of support available.”
