We are pleased to announce the first ever Virtual Careers Fair for local secondary school aged pupils.

The Southend Enterprise Adviser Network in partnership with The South East STEM Hub launched the Essex Wide Virtual Careers Fair in May 2021.

The fair raises awareness of the key sectors and employers in the region, enabling young people across Essex to hear about and explore careers in;

  • health and social care
  • construction and engineering
  • hospitality and leisure,
  • digital, finance, creative sectors
  • and the public sector

When visiting each virtual stall young people and residents had access to a range of engaging activities, videos and information. All content is aimed at inspiring the future generation into in-demand careers now and in the future.

You can access the Essex Wide Virtual Careers Fair via the South East STEM Hub website.

Cllr Laurie Burton, cabinet member for children and learning, said: “We have vibrant and exciting opportunities in the local area and we are delighted to have worked with The South East STEM Hub to bring this to life virtually for thousands of young people and residents across the region”.

“I would like to encourage our young people to take part in this fantastic opportunity. Receiving insight in to working sectors from specialists in their field, helping you to plan for your future career after education.”

Sam Reid, Brand Manager at PJT Restaurants Ltd T/A McDonald’s, said: “Our people are at the heart of what we do and as a proud employer we were delighted Essex Virtual Careers Fair gave us a platform to showcase our business, share our employment opportunities and the varied roles that we can offer. We employ fantastic people from the local community based on their qualities, not their qualifications, giving everyone the opportunity to train, develop and progress in a flexible environment.

“Following the event, we saw our job applications treble so we would highly recommend businesses support future Essex Virtual Careers events.”
