Taxis - lost property and complaints

If you have lost any property while traveling in a Southend-on-Sea licenced vehicle then you will need to contact us to advise us of what has gone missing.

All the drivers licenced by Southend-on-Sea City Council have been instructed to hand all forms of lost property into the Civic Centre. They have been advised to do this as soon as possible.

We store any forms of lost property that we have received from any of our licenced drivers in a secure locker within the Licensing Offices.

You should contact us as soon as you realise you may have lost an item.

You can do this by:

It is advised to describe the item you have lost in as much detail as possible to aid locating your item if it is handed in to us.

Your report will be logged onto our system and sent to the Licensing Office. Our Licensing Team will then check to see if the item you have lost is stored within the lost property records.

If we identify the item you have described to us, then we will contact you to come in and meet with an officer to verify the item. If we do not have a record of your item, we will store your report and contact you if a licenced driver hands an item in that matches your description.

Please note:

If we do not have a record of receiving an item that matches your description you will not be contacted.

If you are coming into the Civic Centre to collect an item, you will be asked present identification. We will take at note of your details to confirm who has collect the item.

All items received will be kept for no longer than 3 months. After this period, any money or clothing will be donated to charity and items with containing personal data will be destroyed.
