Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2018 - 2028

Housing Strategies

Southend-on-Sea City Council’s Housing, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2018 - 2028 sets out the priorities and commitments we are making to address local housing need.

Throughout the life of the strategy, we aim to:

  1. Prioritise the supply of safe, locally affordable homes.
  2. Ensure that regeneration and growth creates inclusive, healthy places to live and thrive.
  3. Encourage good quality housing design, management and maintenance.
  4. Support people to live independently in their own homes and avoid homelessness.
  5. Make any instance of homelessness brief and non-recurrent.

Allocations Policy

Our Allocations Policy sets out how we allocate our limited supply of social housing. A summary guide on how we allocate social housing can be found at www.Southend-on-the-move.org.uk

Discharging Homelessness Duty Policy

The discharging homelessness duty policy sets out how we will make use of the private rented sector to help meet our homelessness duties.
