Organising a street party

VE Day street parties

How you can celebrate Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a street party

If you are planning a street party to mark this historic occasion, please consider whether your event will require a road closure or not.

Street meet (no road closure required)

A Street Meet is a small, informal gathering held on private land, such as a driveway, front garden, or cul-de-sac.

No application for a road closure is required for this type of event.

Street party (road closure required)

A Street Party is a larger event held on a public road and requires a temporary road closure to ensure the safety of all participants.

Available dates for road closures

Early May Bank Holiday: 3 to 5 May 2025.

Application deadline

Applications for road closures must be submitted no later than Friday, 11 April 2025.

Application fees

There will not be a charge for a street party/road closure, so that residents can enjoy this historic event.
