Sopot - Southend's twin town
Sopot, in Poland has been Southend-on-Sea's twin town since October 1999.
- situated in the north of the country, on the Baltic coast, Sopot has wonderful hotels, beaches, pubs and restaurants, as well as a wooden pier, and is an attractive spot for summer holidays
- it is one of the smallest, but also one of the most beautiful of Polish towns, with an estimated population in the region of 41,000
- surrounded by a large forest to the west and Gdansk Gulf to the east, it is only four hours by train from the capital Warsaw
