Housing Benefit
You might be able to claim Housing Benefit if you are:
- on a low income, and
- struggling to cover your rent
You can make a new claim for Housing Benefit if you're State Pension age or over. If you have a partner, you can only usually make a new claim for Housing Benefit when you both reach State Pension age.
If you and your partner aren't State Pension age and you need help with paying your rent, you can only claim Housing Benefit if you live in:
- supported housing
- sheltered housing
- temporary housing
To work out how much hep you can get we take into account:
- how much income you have coming in each week or month (earnings and/or benefits)
- how much you have in savings and investments
- who lives in your household and their circumstances - in some circumstances there will be deductions from your benefit if you have an adult non dependant living with you
- how many rooms you have in your home
- how much rent you have to pay
If you wish to make a claim please go to the Citizen Access Benefits portal
