Join us for our annual Remembrance Day service at the Southend Cenotaph, to honour those who died in the service of their Country during the two World Wars and conflicts since then.
The Mayor, Cllr Ron Woodley, hopes that as many people as possible will generously demonstrate their support in order that this Service, and the observance of the two minutes of silence, may be worthy of our City.
10:15 to 11:00 - Parade from Prittlewell Square to the Cenotaph for a Service of Remembrance.
11:00 - The start and end of the Two minutes silence will be marked by the firing of a Royal Artillery Gun courtesy of Shoeburyness and Southend Essex Branch Royal Artillery Association Gun Team.
The Worshipful The Mayor, Cllr Ron Woodley will lead the laying of wreaths on the Cenotaph.
A Cross of Remembrance will be laid on behalf of War Widows, alongside other wreaths which will be laid by the emergency services and representatives of the faith communities.
The Mayor's Chaplain, The Bishop of Bradwell, The Right Reverend Adam Atkinson will lead the service.
Throughout the ceremony wreaths will be laid by veteran's organisations.
During the final Hymn of the service anyone wishing to lay a wreath will have the opportunity to do so.
11:30 - At the conclusion of the service the National Anthem will be played. The parade will then reform and the Mayoral party will proceed to the saluting dais between the Cenotaph and Prittlewell Square.
