Once empty and purged, metal boilers can be taken to the HWRCs. Please note: some old fashioned boilers may contain small quantities of asbestos – this CANNOT be accepted at the Household Waste Recycling Centres so check before the item is brought to the site. Boilers believed to contain asbestos will be rejected by staff on site. If you are having a new boiler installed check with your heating engineer and request that they remove the old boiler as part of the works.
