You should notify us when critical stages of work are ready for inspection.
We will then tell you what those stages are for your project when we confirm receipt of your valid application.
Please remember that you must notify us at both commencement and completion of the work as well as the critical stages.
To book a site inspection please call 01702 215004 or or use the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) inspection app. Please note that we require at least 24 hours notice.
You should be aware that the inspections are only carried out to ensure that the building work complies with the Building Regulations. They are not a substitute for day to day supervision of the building work. You will need to employ an independent professional person to supervise builders and deal with contractual matters should this be necessary.

Local Authority Building Control (LABC) has developed a free of charge site inspection request app that offers you the option to conveniently contact the Southend building control team to request a site inspection.
How does it work?

You will need to fill in a few details first time so we know who the request has come from. If your GPS is turned on, then the app will let us know where you are when you send the request. Site inspections will be carried out between 10am and 3pm. You will get an email confirming we have received the request.
